Google Drive Security Score

One number from 0 to 100 that shows how open your Drive is to the outside. See which groups pull the score down and fix them from the dashboard.

A Google Drive security check with Wistorix gives you a score from 0 to 100, built from 5 sharing risk groups, plus a list of what to fix to raise it.

A security score out of 100

‍

Every scan, Wistorix calculates a security score for your Drive. It starts at 100 and drops for each risk it finds, and each group has its own weight. Public files cost more points than files sitting outside a folder.

‍

The 5 risk groups it checks

‍

Files public by link, outside emails that still have access, unnecessary edit access, files owned by people who have left, and orphaned or loose files. Each group shows a file count, a severity and a button to fix it.

‍

Track the score across scans

‍

Scan history shows the score rising as you close risks and falling when new sharing appears. It's a simple way to report on the state of your Drive to a manager or a client.

‍

How to run a Google Drive security check

‍

  1. Scan your Drive. Install the Wistorix Chrome extension, sign in and run a scan. Scanning is free and unlimited.
  2. Review the score and the groups. The dashboard shows your security score and which groups cost the most points.
  3. Fix in order of priority. Close public links first, then revoke outside emails and trim unnecessary edit access. Scan again to see the new score.

‍

What the score tells you, and what it doesn't

‍

A score of 100 means Wistorix found no risks in the 5 groups it checks. It's a way to compare scans over time, not a security certificate. The score doesn't cover account passwords or two-step verification. The full checklist is in our Google Drive security audit guide.

‍

How Wistorix keeps your data safe

‍

  • Wistorix reads file metadata through the Google Drive API and never downloads file contents
  • It never revokes or deletes anything on its own. Every action runs only after you confirm
  • You can remove Wistorix's access at any time from your Google Account

Frequently asked questions

‍

What's a good security score?

‍

There's no universal threshold. Look at which groups cost points: if a sensitive file is still public, fix it right away even if the score is high.

‍

Can the score change if I do nothing?

‍

Yes, if you or someone else shares more files. Each new share can lower the score on the next scan.

‍

Can I check a personal Gmail account?

‍

Yes. Wistorix works with personal Gmail accounts and Google Workspace accounts.

‍

Is the security check free?

‍

Yes. Scanning and viewing your score is always free, with no limit on how often you scan.
